Mission Statement

  • Preserve the legacies and history of the 623 men victimized in the USPHS Syphilis Study

  • Foster social justice, education and public health

1. Complete Memorial and Inspiration Garden

  • Accept an architectural design and landscape plan

  • Obtain quotes to develop the design

  • Establish a budget

  • Develop fundraising plans (membership, Tuskegee University, City of Tuskegee, Macon County, Director of the Lynching Museum in Montgomery, and Auburn University

2. Increase Membership

  • Develop an intensive outreach of descendants and sympathetic supporters of VFOFLF

  • Explore methods to locate and identify descendants (Henry Lewis Gates)

3. Complete Research Project; The Untold Story

4. Determine the future of VFOFLF over the next 5 years

  • Establish a think tank of key individuals from different contingencies

5. Participate and present in venues as to educating and heightening awareness of the Tuskegee USPHS Study in Macon County

  • Involvement with local and civic community forums

6. Scholarship

  • Create an endowment program

  • Expand the Annual Scholarship Banquet

  • Increase the scholarship grants given out each year
